Since October 2012, I have worked with the Manchester School of Theatre at the Manchester Metropolitan University as a production manager on a number of filmed drama pieces. It is always a pleasure to work at the School, and with their extraordinary talented students. With an impressive alumni that includes John Bradley-West, Sue Cleaver, Steve Coogan, Bernard Hill, David Threlfall and Julie Walters, it certainly is a possibility that I am working with the stars of tomorrow!
The most recent production I have worked on was part of the student’s Acting for Camera module. Taught by the magnificent Charlie Moritz, whose wealth of knowledge stems back from his days working at Granada TV and BBC Manchester, this was the student’s opportunity to put their camera training skills to the test. I think you’ll agree with me that they excelled themselves superbly.
For this project, Charlie asked previous students if they would like to submit any written material to be filmed. Developing the scripts with Charlie, the writer’s produced well-crafted, original writing. The pieces included are How To Be a Saint by Erin Bolens, Quick, He’s Coming by Ruth E. Cockburn, F.C. by Sam Hevicon, Self-Service by Freddie Machin, Fatih 4 a Fiver by Ben Seager, and Squeeze Me Slow by Claire Marie Wilkinson.
